South African President Ramaphosa had a remarkable meeting with Trump in the White House. The US president accused South Africa of killing white South Africans. During the meeting in the Oval Office, he had his staff dim the lights to show footage that he claimed supported his accusations. Before the meeting, Trump had spoken about 'white genocide'.

Ramaphosa, a former anti-apartheid fighter, explained that South Africa faces high crime rates and that not only white people are killed in the country. The majority of the victims are black, he said. He also emphasized that South Africa is a democracy where people are free to speak out.

Trump handed Ramaphosa printed articles about murdered white South Africans, claiming thousands of deaths. The South African delegation countered that crime affects all South Africans, regardless of color, and that some farmers voluntarily sell their land at fair prices.
